Some raw materials are either too delicate or too inert to receive the fragrance molecules by distillation, boiling, pressing or enfleurage. To receive the wonderful fragrance molecules we have to extract them with a solvent. Absolutes are similar to essential oils. They are concentrated, highly aromatic and oily mixtures. The fragrance of absolutes are often more concentrated than essential oils and thicker in consistency and have an orange/brown colour. Some of them need to be warming up before use.
